Current sensors

Current sensors are devices that provide an accurate and reliable representation of the direct or alternating current to be measured, for primary currents ranging from a few tens of amperes up to 5000 A.

The different families of current sensors are:

- Measurement shunts: Based on the resistive relationship between current and voltage, they convert the measured current into a voltage (in mV). They are intrusive and are generally permanently installed on busbars.

- Current transformers: Easily identifiable by their ring shape allowing the cable or busbar to pass through the center, they can be split-core or solid-core.
Through magnetic phenomena, these transformers step down alternating current to standardized values of 1 A or 5 A.
Some models, known as metering current transformers, are designed for energy sub-billing applications.
